After Iguazú we’ll spend a day “drying out” in Buenos Aires.  We’ll explore the colonial city and then visit La Boca, an eccentric neighborhood that is just too much “eye candy” to skip.  These photos should explain what we mean – better than words!  There is a coffee table book focusing only on this neighborhood!  There will be people performing tango on the streets – and we’ll give you time to explore BA’s famous leather shops!

Then, we’re off to the World Heritage Site, Peninsula
Valdés, and a nearby giant colony of penguins!

For the next few days, we’ll set up base camp in a hacienda on the peninsula, and explore concentrations of penguins, elephant seals, sea lions, and exciting shore birds. 

We’ve timed this expedition to maximize the chance
of photographing a group of orcas charging ashore
to capture seal pups (although this is by no means
guaranteed) and will spend time on a boat seeking
great whale photos!

We will be up close and personal with a huge colony of penguins, with time to both study their behavior and create artistic images of these amazing creatures.  Surrounded by hundreds of thousands of these birds, you’ll struggle to zero in on the one you want to capture with your lenses!

And, we’ll have a long session with a large group of one of the most photographable creatures on the planet – the elephant seal.  You’ll zero in on personalities and get into portraiture – capturing expressive images with such feeling you’ll almost want to start naming the individuals.
