Yellowstone Teton Fall Photography Safari

September 28 - October 5, 2019 - Space Available

Join us as we explore Yellowstone National Park, cameras in hand, in search of great fall colors, magnificent scenery, exciting wildlife, and amazing thermal features.  We’ve timed this adventure around the elk rut, and bears feasting before hibernation.

We hold a Commercial Use Authorization from Yellowstone National Park to guide photography tours.

2019 Rates
Double Occupancy: $3,950
Single Occupancy: $4,650
Deposit: $800

Our flexible itinerary will enable us to work with glorious fall colors, amazing peaks, reflections and more as we play landscape photographers in Yellowstone.  We’ll rise early and stay out late for great light! We'll enjoy six full days of guided photography outings.

We’ll also keep our eyes out for moose amongst the streams, pools, and willows!

In Yellowstone, we’ll balance our time among geysers and other thermal features…

Spectacular waterfalls and canyons decorated with osprey nests…

And our quest for rutting elk…

Out for the hunt!

This adventure is designed for photography – that means we’ll take the time we need to “work the scenes” rather than give you 10 minutes at every spot in the park.  We’ll work hard to get you to each photographic opportunity in great light – but also expect us to deviate from plans as opportunities present themselves.

Great photography in this environment requires rising early.  It requires patience.  And it begs you to be ready when sudden opportunities erupt.  We’ll do our part to get you out early, move to great locations, and help you prepare yourself and your gear for moments of action and outstanding light.

We, Diane Kelsay and Bob Harvey, have photographed in all seasons in Yellowstone since the middle 1980s.  We’ve been out in all kinds of weather, in all seasons, and have a great sense of what works in what conditions.  And we have no desire to photograph (or take you to photograph) great material in poor light.  That’s why we worked to build a photographic safari that is truly flexible.  There is no “if it’s Tuesday, it must be Canyon” about this calendar!

We can expect any and every kind of weather in Yellowstone in the fall.  We have seen, and photographed, beautiful snowfalls with full aspen colors.  We’ve basked in warm temperatures.  We’ve had strong directional light, and we’ve found great compositions with heavy overcast.  One of our favorite moments is to anticipate the first rays of light as a storm begins to break up.

We’re prepared to help you grow as a photographer.  We’ll minimize “one size fits all” lecturing and spend time one-on-one in the field, working on skills you want to improve.  We stress helping you compare yourself to your previous work – rather than pitting participants against each other.

If you are ready to pick up your camera and hit the trail, come explore Yellowstone National Park with us.

Yes, you can do a fall photography outing in Yellowstone on your own.  And you may very well come back with great images.

Do remember that the Yellowstone ecosystem is four million acres.  We have been photographing in that ecosystem for over 25 years in all seasons and all weather.  We have a pretty good idea where to look for feasting bears in the fall, where the elk like to hang out and rut, where we might find an osprey looking for a fish before migration, and where there might be a moose.  We also know where to go when the weather closes and where to be when the storm begins to break up.

Our safaris are geared to getting you to great opportunities in great light.  We’re taking you to the places we would go if we were here on our own.  Join us and learn your way around the parks with our insights – then come back on your own if you want – you’ll have some strong ideas on what to look for, where, and when!
