Join us for a Belize Photographic Adventure that is truly adventurous!  We’ll step off the beaten path with our cameras, adventuring in Mayan sites, caves, and tropical rainforests.

We’ll take cameras and flashes into several caves, most away from the standard visitor path.  We’ll enter those caves on foot, on rope, by canoe, and by swimming. 

It will take good teamwork to get the places we want to take you – and we’ll work together to achieve multi-flash lighting once we’re in the caves!  You’ll be amazed at the cave formations – and at the Mayan artifacts in the caves we’ll visit! 

We’ll visit some of the iconic Mayan sites that you won’t want to miss – but we’ll explore deeper and further than most visitors get to go – making images that capture the essence of those special places – and put them squarely in the tropical forests that are engulfing them. 

Our Wild Bunch will climb to the top of temples to find vistas that are beyond the reach of most visitors.  And we'll plumb the labyrinths of doorways and stairwells and twisting hallways to find great photographic compositions.

The list of things we want to share with you is long – much longer than what we can accomplish within the timeline.  So, we’ll do some “choosing” on the fly, making some of the choices after we see the weather conditions and others based on what the group likes best.

Our guide Luis is a long time friend of Mayan heritage, a son of a chiclero (one who harvested chicle in the rainforest for the original chewing gum industry).  Luis is one of the top guides in Belize – truly one of the best in the world.  He’ll keep us safe, get us to exciting places, and give us incredible insights into both the natural and Mayan worlds.

You’ll need hiking boots and water shoes, caving helmets (BYO or Luis will provide) and headlamps, dry bags and more.  We’ll bring off-camera flashes to light cave formations – if you have your own, do bring it along!  We’ve picked a lodge convenient to our adventures and which will give us a great base camp to clean up, rest up, download and charge, and share stories over local brews.  There are  great macro and bird photography opportunities on the grounds!

When we’ve finished this trip, you’ll really feel like you’ve been someplace awesome and that you’ve created amazing photos of places few people get to visit.  And you’ll have stories to share for years to come!
