Nature Photography Adventures presents Oregon Wine Country, a photography adventure combining wine tasting and the exploration of springtime in Western Oregon. Led by Diane Kelsay and Bob Harvey. A nature photography adventure designed for nature photographers by nature photographers.

Join us in the spring of 2012 as we explore Oregon’s wine country, tasting and photographing as we go, and taking exciting side trips to waterfalls, fields of blooming iris, and blooming rhododendrons.

Oregon’s Willamette Valley and nearby Umpqua Valley wine regions are famous for their pinots and for unique wineries with exciting natural and pastoral backdrops.  Most Oregon wineries have remained small and distinctive. The wines and the wineries themselves are unique and very approachable.

Oregon boasts well over 300 wineries. We’ll visit our favorites - some of the most exciting, most picturesque, and best quality wineries from Portland down the Willamette Valley and to the Umpqua Wine Region.  We’ll taste great wines.  We’ll hear from the growers and the winemakers.  We’ll visit the back rooms where wines are made and stored.  We’ll wander the vineyards.  All while making images!
Oregon wines combine well with great Northwestern cuisine.  We’ll enjoy the pairings of great wines with salmon, halibut, crab, shrimp, beef, lamb, and of course that famous Oregon clam chowder.  We’ll explore the distinctive breads and cheeses of Oregon, again paired with great Oregon wines.  And, we’ll celebrate with chocolate truffles, pairing superb chocolate with fine pinot noirs!

Does the word "decadence" come to mind? 
 

Oregon’s wine regions are surrounded by great pastoral farmlands and lush forests of Douglas fir, hemlock, western red cedar, and bigleaf maple.  Fertile valleys give way to the Coast and Cascade Ranges, filled with rushing streams and exciting waterfalls. 

We’ve chosen May for this tour, a time when winter rains have given way to spring showers, when vineyards are green with new growth, when waterfalls are filled with springtime energy, when iris fields and rose gardens are in top form, when wild and cultivated rhododendrons are at their best, and when the valleys look lush and fertile.

Join us, for what promises to be a wonderful week of enjoying wine and northwest cuisine and crafting wonderful images.

 

 

  • Cost: $2,350 per person, double occupancy (Payment by check)

  • Cost: $2,750 per person, single occupancy (Payment by check)

  •  Begins and ends in Portland, Oregon.

  • Cost includes all lodging, all breakfasts and lunches, wine tasting, admissions, guided outings, transportation with designated driver, photographic instruction.

  • Participants must be in good health, and be willing to try new things.
