Join Diane and Bob as they lead a group of dedicated nature photography enthusiasts on an extended exploration of the Galapagos Islands.

We'll explore an Extended Galapagos Route (predetermined and specifically permitted) where we'll be guided on carefully laid out trails that will give us great opportunities to see and photograph great wildlife, interesting plants, exciting geology, and great scenes.

We've reserved the entire MV Samba, a small yacht with a great crew, to take us on a not-so-crowded route through the islands. April through June is a great time to visit the islands, the weather should be very comfortable, with highs averaging under 80 and good sea temperatures.

We’ll improve photographic techniques while capturing images that are truly stunning, in this region where the wildlife knows no fear of man.

We’ll see and photograph the famous Galapagos tortoise and marine and land iguanas; and a multitude of bird life including boobies, Galapagos penguins, Galapagos hawk, swallow-tailed gull, American oystercatchers, frigate birds, finches, waved albatross and flightless cormorants, to name a few. Our trip is timed for the courtship and nesting season, which adds both excitement and photographic opportunity.

Both the North & West itinerary and the South & East itinerary have a full spectrum of exciting wildlife and scenery. The exception is that the North & West itinerary is your chance to photograph flightless cormorants and the South & East itinerary is your chance to photograph waved albatross. On our combined adventure, you get both!

You’ll have the chance to snorkel in crystal waters among these stunning islands, and marine life viewing is abundant from the yacht.

The trip will begin and end in Quito, Ecuador. We'll spend our first day in Quito where we'll explore colonial architecture, locally woven textiles and other unique Andean crafts. We'll lodge in the heart of old town Quito (a World Heritage Site) where we'll be able to walk among structures built during the early days when the Spanish conquered this region.

This trip is designed for a small group. It is based in Ecuador (the safest and most stable country in South America). The itinerary includes 3 nights of hotel lodging and 14 nights on a superior yacht.

Suggested Equipment and Supplies
*A Digital SLR, capable of manual operation - you'll want wide angle, close up, and telephoto lenses
*OR a fixed zoom Digital camera capable of manual operation
*We suggest a storage device such as a stand alone hard drive or a notebook computer for image storage and review, and a battery charger
*Dry bag
*Waterproof cameras are good for snorkeling
*Tripod (reasonably lightweight) optional for mainland Ecuador, not recommended for the islands
*Lightweight outdoor clothes, bathing suit, sandals and hiking shoes with non-slip soles, sun hat or cap, windbreaker, dressy casual for Quito
*A spirit of adventure
